LONG BIOGRAPHY

Wandering Blind are a band who want their name on your lips and their choruses in your head. With a vast array of influences, they have the simple goal of making every single unique to their last. That is the case with new single ‘Oh Well’, another foray into their distinct brand of music.

When taking to the stage, Wandering Blind perform with a quiet intensity fuelled by adrenaline and anxiety, making them a captivating live act. The stripped back nature of a two man band provides a serendipity between the rawness of their onstage playing and the layered instrumentals of their polished studio tracks. On stage they are led by a tumultuous front man in principle, songwriter Jack Holt. Appearing with a guitar strung over his shoulder like a comforter, he cuts a solemn figure who cracks wry comments in between songs. Besides him on drums sits the better half of Wandering Blind, Kyle Thompson. He appears trance like, unaware of cameras or bystanders. Instead, he sits back providing a backbone to Holt’s rhythmic guitar strikes.

Musically, Jack Holt will tell you his first influence was seeing a replay of the video for the Arctic Monkey’s ‘I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor’ when he was 11, and the song that propelled him to write was ‘Jugband Blues’ by Pink Floyd. Both Holt and the band show an interest in development, whether that be in sound or style. Jack’s love for artists like Kraftwerk, Dr Dre and The Human League has seen forays into electronic music, with investments in drum machines and synthesisers. However, the band still seem firmly implanted in the roots of the guitar, drums and bass typology that pulled the two together at the tail end of high school.
